The Brief
Location Partnership is the leading directory of locations available to be rented out for filming purposes. The company has been building their location database for over 20 years. While their focus was on building their listings they had somewhat neglected their customer facing website. While working for Studio44, we were approached to re-design their website, by redefining the overloaded site architecture, and by serving customers with the information they wanted in an easily digestible form.
MY ROLE
After the branding had been provided by an external agency, I worked directly alongside a front end and back end developer to define the site architecture by running card sorting methods with the business owner and their customers.
I formed the wireframes, architecture, UX & UI design of the site, while working closely to fine tune micro interactions with the front end developer.
My first point of call when starting the project was to speak to the business owner and understand who their primary customers were, and what value the site added to their workflow.

After a user has selected a filter, I would display a couple of images for each location so the user doesn't need to enter each one individually, and is able to quickly skim through listings. I also included a location prompt 'IN M25' and a short description as these were key filters customers were interested in.
Another popular feature requirement that came from customer interviews was the ability to search via location across the UK. I decided early on that including a visual map search function was more intuitive than using a drop down list based on the UK county.
