I led the design of a gambling app from research to working prototype

BRIEF

This brief was for a pre-funding startup looking to disrupt the betting industry with a peer to peer social solution. Described as a cross between twitter and bet365, the company is on a mission to entice 18-35 year olds to place small bets with clear 50/50 odds for any bet imaginable, just as long as the team can validate it with facts.

MY ROLE

I was approached to be the sole product designer for the early stage startup. I helped define the roadmap, conduct research, and shape the product taking it from conception with the founders, through user research and discovery stages, to delivery of a fully working prototype of the entire application animated in Principle for the founders to use to raise £1.5 million in funding.

Research (Qualitative & Quantitative)

-Survey Monkey 1-Sent out to all age ranges to get an idea of who uses what, and their thoughts towards gambling/betting. 33 respondents.
-Survey Monkey 2- Same survey as (1) this time targeted at gambling professionals aged 18-35. 47 respondents.

-Survey Monkey 3- Short survey sent to a focussed group of gamblers. 15 respondents
-Google Forms - Sourced from gambling forums on facebook and prompted which app and why they use it. 50 respondents.
-Lookback.io - A short video prototype

Fully clickable prototype, created in Principle for Mac.

TL;DR

I analysed the onboarding funnel for a gambling startup, designed and tested a solution, and increased week on week activation rate by 23.5%
